Ever ask yourself, "What is preventing me from losing weight?"
I know it’s tough. And it truly sucks, that now in your 40’s or older, you just can’t seem to lose weight and change your body back to how you used to look and feel! It is so unfair that you try again and again, and you feel so unsuccessful. You just want to fit back into your old jeans, that little black dress or those cute shorts and tank top……
As a body transformation specialist and weight loss coach, I am here to tell you that it is most likely due to just these 3 things...
Insulin, a hormone secreted by the pancreas, along with unstable blood sugar that insulin helps keep in control. And then add perimenopause or menopause to the mix.
Insulin travels from the pancreas to the liver via the bloodstream every time we eat anything with carbohydrates in it. The simpler the carbohydrate the more insulin is secreted, causing the liver to convert extra glucose into glycogen, and forcing about 2/3 of your body’s cells, usually muscle and fat tissue cells, to take up glucose from the blood.
When you consume a diet that is too high in starches, sugar, caffeine and alcohol, and combine that with a lifestyle too high in stress, you create an environment where your blood sugar is unstable, fluctuating between being too high or too low.
This can often result in symptoms of fatigue, dizziness, heart palpitations, food and sugar cravings, and irritability. When blood sugar is unstable it can also affect your adrenals, that tend to fatigue quickly with excess sugar intake, and PMS which can also be aggravated by unstable blood sugar. Both of these can result again in feelings of fatigue, discomfort and irritability.
And then there is perimenopause and menopause…… When your hormones start acting up it will perpetuate the insulin and unstable blood sugar issues even more!
If you want to lose weight, feel great and get back into those clothes you likely need to find a way to get that insulin and blood sugar under control. I know it’s been hard. And every failed attempt has made you feel like a failure. But it isn’t impossible. Our modern day foods that are so convenient aren’t helping you at all! You need to get back to basics! Real food for the real you!
